part of its national More To Share?hunger-fighting program, Cargill Meat Solutions, producer of Honeysuckle White?and Shady Brook Farms?turkey products, announced today that it will donate approximately 110,000 pounds of turkey to help feed the hungry during the holidays. The donations are made in cooperation with Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms turkey's valued grocery partners to benefit food banks, soup kitchens and other hunger-fighting charities.

Across America, charitable organizations in 27 cities will benefit from the More To Share program by receiving donated Honeysuckle White or Shady Brook Farms turkeys this year. Nationwide, the donated turkeys will help feed hundreds of thousands of people in need this holiday season. Communities and the agencies receiving donations this year are included in the attached file to the right, along with the More To Share grocery partners.

"It is important and meaningful to us as a company to assist charities in feeding those in need who otherwise may not have turkey at Thanksgiving," said Amy Walenta of the Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms More To Share program. "Hunger is an ongoing problem, and charities need not only food items, but money and volunteers as well. Our donation is a starting point, and we challenge other businesses and individuals across the nation to join us in helping to fight hunger however they can."

Since the More To Share program began 12 years ago, Cargill Meat Solutions and its parent company Cargill, Incorporated have donated approximately 1.2 million pounds of Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms turkey to charities across the country.

Lots of Tri Staters will be heading to the grocery store this weekend to pick up their thanksgiving turkeys...and fixins for the big dinner.

So where will you find the best deals? We checked the circulars and found some good news. Everyone is running a deal on turkeys right now, so you really can't go wrong.

Where the Deals Are

Kroger has Riverside turkeys for just 57 cents a pound, with an additional $10 purchase.

Meijer is offering 9 dollars off a Butterball or Honeysuckle Turkey, with a $10 purchase. That brings your purchase price down to about 60 cents a pound.

But Remke had the lowest price we found: 49 cents a pound for Honeysuckle.

Biggs shoppers, meantime, can get a free turkey, if you've collected Biggs Bucks in recent weeks.

What are Biggs Bucks? You should have received them at the register the past few weeks...hope you didn't just throw them away!. You get 2 Biggs Bucks for every $50 purchase. With 20 or 25, you get a free turkey at Biggs.

Bottom line: good turkey deals everywhere this weekend. So Don't Waste Your Money. I'm John Matarese.
